International Coastal Cleanup

International Coastal Cleanup Day (ICCD) is celebrated on the third Saturday of September every year. The day is observed to encourage people to free beaches from garbage, raise awareness about preserving and protecting the World’s Ocean and waterways, and to solve the problem of trash in the ocean.

Standard Operating Procedure

  • Get permission from local officials, health officers and traffic officials
  • Determine parking areas for volunteers
  • Mobile toilet van and hand wash facilities
  • Provide clean-up supplies for volunteers
  • Run the clean-up smoothly
  • Weigh the trash and sort recycling from trash during the clean-up
  • Keep the trash in a specified dumpster or container
  • Drone capture before and after the beach clean-up
