The Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), in collaboration with the Government of Maharashtra, organized a large-scale Beach Cleaning Drive at Suruchi Beach Beach on 20th September 2025. The initiative was part of the “Seva Parv” campaign, commemorating International Coastal Clean-up Day (ICCD) 2025.
The programme aimed to raise awareness about marine pollution, coastal conservation, and the urgent need for sustainable environmental practices. The event drew enthusiastic participation from local communities, school children, representatives of local self-governments, government officials, environmental organizations, and educational institutions.
A total of 5000 volunteers took part in the clean-up, collecting nearly 35000.0 kg of marine litter and waste. The debris primarily consisted of plastic materials and discarded fishing nets, glass and rubber items etc.
Alongside the clean-up, the event also featured public awareness activities and community engagement programmes. The drive concluded with all participants taking the Green Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable living.

| Description | On Saturday, 20 September 2025, on the occasion of International Coastal Cleanup Day, Beach Clean-up Drive was successfully implemented at Suruchi Beach, Vasai (West) in the Vasai Virar City Municipal Corporation area in collaboration with Vasai Virar City Municipal Corporation and Making the Difference Charitable Trust. More than 5000 people participated in this campaign. Around 2km length cleaned and 35 Tons of waste is collected. In this cleanliness drive, Hon. Commissioner Mr. Manojkumar Suryavanshi, Hon. Additional Commissioner Mr. Sanjay Herwade, Hon. Mr. Tarun Verma - Nodal Officer, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Hon. Deputy Commissioner (Solid waste Management), Mrs. Archana Dive, Hon. Deputy Commissioner (Garden Dept.) Mrs. Swati Deshpande, Hon. Deputy Commissioner Mr. Prashant Jadhav, Hon. Provost City Engineer Mr. Pradeep Pachange, all Assistant Commissioners of the Municipal Corporation, Heads of Departments, all employees of the Municipal Corporation especially cleanliness workers, Political parties, students of 20 schools - colleges, teachers and non-teaching staff, organizations related to the environment, environmentally friendly citizens, 10 women's self-help groups, 10 NGOs, volunteers, journalists, citizens, fishermen, tourists, etc. participated. Along with Clean Up Drive, Street Play, Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam, Pledge, Selfie and Signature drive was carried out. | ||
