The Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), in collaboration with the Government of Kerala, organized a large-scale Beach Cleaning Drive at Kapped beach Beach on 20th September 2025. The initiative was part of the “Seva Parv” campaign, commemorating International Coastal Clean-up Day (ICCD) 2025.
The programme aimed to raise awareness about marine pollution, coastal conservation, and the urgent need for sustainable environmental practices. The event drew enthusiastic participation from local communities, school children, representatives of local self-governments, government officials, environmental organizations, and educational institutions.
A total of 197 volunteers took part in the clean-up, collecting nearly 324.0 kg of marine litter and waste. The debris primarily consisted of plastic materials and discarded fishing nets, glass and rubber items etc.
Alongside the clean-up, the event also featured public awareness activities and community engagement programmes. The drive concluded with all participants taking the Green Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable living.

| Description | As part of Seva Parv 2025 and in observance of the International Coastal Clean-up Day 2025, a Mass Clean Drive was organized by the District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC), Kozhikode, at four key coastal destinations â Kappad Blue Flag Beach, Erool Beach, Gotheeswaram Beach, and Beypore Beach. The initiative aimed to promote environmental awareness, coastal conservation, and community participation in maintaining the cleanliness and sustainability of our beaches. At Kappad Blue Flag Beach, the programme witnessed active involvement of NCC, NSS,SPC and Tourism Club Members from nearby educational institutions, along with local volunteers and tourism stakeholders. Similar enthusiastic participation was noted at Erool, Gotheeswaram, and Beypore beaches, where volunteers joined hands to collect and properly dispose of marine litter, plastic waste, and other pollutants. The event highlighted the importance of collective responsibility in protecting coastal ecosystems and preserving them for future generations. Through this initiative, DTPC Kozhikode reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable tourism and environmental stewardship, encouraging citizens and tourists alike to adopt cleaner, greener practices in all beach destinations. | ||
